Mud, Glorious Mud!

Took a trip over to the Mainland again today to get down and dirty in some mud.  Not just any old mud. Thick, gooey, squelchy, glorious MINERAL mud!  The mineral spa is about a 30 min cab ride from where we got off the speedboat though some tiny narrow streets.  Our entry included a mud bath for 4, mineral waterfall and mineral pool.  Believe it or not, kids aside, it was quite relaxing (and fun).  On the way there Quid was saying there was NO WAY he was going to have a bath in mud.  Very quickly changed his mind and threw himself in.  The pool afterwards was about the same temperature as a bath.  Wonderful!  We left feeling relaxed and refreshed and hungry.  Stopped at the Louisiana brew house for quick bite to eat and some liquid refreshments then speedboat back to the resort.  A great morning!

Dancing Quiddy!

Go son, go!  I sure hope you get your moves from you dad.  Watch out for one particularly fine move where he clocks his sister in the face.  Pure gold!

Lac Canh...Who's have thought?

We had a bit of a surreal experience last night.  Headed over to the mainland to check out a restaurant that Nick and I fell in love with on our first trip to Nha Trang 15 years ago.  We came back once before in 2000 and it was just as good.  We never dreamed that it would still be here.  It is nothing fancy.  Just a BBQ restaurant where they bring out all of the freshly marinated meats and seafood and you cook it at your table on a little clay pot full of roasting coals.  To our surprise and delight it was still there!  Not a great deal has changed (including the prices surprisingly!)  We had beef, chicken, spring rolls, rice, bread and beers and lemonades for the grand sum of $15.  I don't think it was until Nick turned to me and said "can you believe that we were here 15 years ago and now we are here with our kids?" that it really sank in.  You just never know what the future holds but I'd have to say I never dreamed of sitting in  this tiny, smoky little place with our 3 and 5 year old.  It was as busy, smoky, loud and cheap as ever.....but oh so much sweeter to introduce it to our children.  Who knows, maybe they will bring their kids there one day.  We might just tag along.......

Mullet City!

We don't get it but we are rolling with it.  Mullet spotting here has become our favoritie pastimes here.  Believe me, some of these would put Billy Ray to shame.  Who'd have thought it.  I thought Russia was famous for Vodka. Here is a selection of our covert finest.......

We don't put them to bed, we wring them out!

Lets just say we are having a blast.  These kids just do not stop (big one included).  There is so much to do here.  The kids go from beach to pool to fun park to water park.  We are stuffing ourselves at the all you can eat buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner but hopefully working it off in the pool.  The place is full of holidaying Viets and middle aged Russians.  At least the women make me feel like Elle on the TAB cola add!  Would not recommend for a romantic break or a honeymoon but for our needs it is perfect!
