Cambodia! Great Memories!

Cambodia! Slideshow: click to take a trip back with us to the magical Cambodia!

Out and about with the kids

Took the kids out last night for some cocktails on the roof at the Majestic then on to the night markets for a bite to eat.  The food there is fantastic and cheap as chips.  Really fresh and tastes amazing.  The atmosphere is awesome and Scarlett relished (again) being the centre of attention, flirting shamelessly with the wait staff and serenading them with Baa Baa Black Sheep.

Yes....this was a Mocktail for my girl!

Little freak eats the skin as well as the orange! Did not even bother to try and explain the meaning of Garnish!

mmmmm.....maybe not.....

We had one of these fresh snapper.....divine!

Spring rolls....a firm family favourite.

Our snapper!

Progressive Dinner

Had the ultimate pleasure to take part in a progressive dinner around town with a great group of friends.  We ate and drank in some of the cities most fantastic restaurants.  What a great night! A special way to farewell some special friends and say happy 30th Wedding Anniversary to some others!

Happy Anniversary to my favourite Canadian couple!

These Apple Martinis are only beaten by the view at Shri.

Just......

Our French connection.

Pork Belly and Scallops at the Hyatt....Divine.

Millionaires......well....Dongaires anyway.

One of the best in the city, Square One at the Hyatt.

We started with cocktails at sunset on the Majestic's roof.

The Sleeping Beauties of Tu Xuong.

You might be mistaken into thinking I took these late in the afternoon.  It was actually 8.00am!  Don't know what these guys got up to last night.  Maybe it was the World Cup?  Seriously though, you see this everywhere, everyday.  Any time is a good time for a little nanna nap and I love seeing some of the positions these guys get themselves in.  I would struggle to maintain the position let alone have a sleep in it!

Help!

Alert the police immediately!  This woman is trying to kill me. (And I am paying her $22USD twice a week to do it!).  This is Jenny.  I can't figure out if she hates me or loves me and the feeling is mutual.  For God's sake she had me going BACKWARDS on the treadmill today.  Do you have any idea how hard that is!!!  Not even mentioning that when we are doing our stretches she must think I am made of rubber.  Can someone send Radox!

My Star Of The Week!

So proud of my little boy. He is really thriving at school and gets so chuffed when he learns something new. He can't wait to get home and tell us all about it. Nearly could not get his head through the door after THIS award. Was presented to him in front of the whole school at assembly. Go Quiddy....you little champ! XXX

The Price You Pay

Living as an Expat is an amazing experience. Like so many things in life though it comes at a cost. Expats all have one thing in common. At some stage they have stood at the bottom of the aerobridge in a strange land with a bewildered expression thinking "now what?" Just that commonality seems to be enough to strike up a conversation with any expat here. One of the hardest things about heading over to a new country is leaving your family behind. So it is only natural that something you must do while away is find a new one. I don't mean replace the old one, just surround yourself with people that you can rely on and share both the good and the bad. There is no point coming over and living an isolated existence. You just won't make it. We have been lucky enough to have been embraced by the most wonderful "family here. Last night we celebrated the farewell of 4 of them. This wonderful family of 4 have only been in our lives a short time but have made a huge impact. Last night was a credit to the people they are as guest after guest recounted stories and spoke with such fondness of them. I know they are sad to go and they in turn will be leaving some devastated people here but the class they showed last night was amazing. They reminded us all that this journey that we are all undertaking is life changing and unique and needs to be embraced. They remind me that to survive here you have to give a piece or your heart away and that one day you have to pay the price when those you care about take that piece home with them. Farewell my friends. I wish you a lifetime of happiness. See you in the cyber world!

Good Night Saigon!

As the sun sinks down over this amazing city the view from our windows reminds us how lucky we are.  Soon after this shot the sound and light show began with a fantastic thunder and lightening storm.  We are certainly not in Kansas any more Toto!

PS: Love the one with the bird doing the Kamikaze swoop in the corner!
